The Middle Years at Great Maple School mark a time of transformation—academically, socially, and emotionally. As students step into the middle school, they begin to take greater ownership of their learning, develop their individual voices, and build the skills needed for success in secondary school and beyond. It’s a time for exploration, independence, and discovering who they are as learners and young people.

Middle Years at GMS

In Class 6, students transition smoothly from the primary years into a more structured, yet still supportive, learning environment.

They’re introduced to subject-specific teaching while continuing to strengthen their core literacy and numeracy skills.

With growing confidence, students are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, and collaborate on projects that connect classroom learning to the real world.

By Class 7, learners are becoming more independent, reflective, and self-aware. They take on greater academic challenges and begin to explore topics in depth across a broader curriculum.

From writing persuasive essays to tackling science investigations, students are supported to develop strong study habits, critical thinking skills, and a resilient mindset—ready for the next stage of their educational journey.
