At Great Maple School (GMS), we believe the early years are a time of wonder and discovery. Our Early Years and Kindergarten programs are thoughtfully designed to welcome your child to the magical beginnings of their school journey and provide them with a strong and joyful foundation for future learning.
Early Year 1
Early Year 1 is where curiosity blossoms and little minds begin their exciting journey of discovery. Through play-based learning, stories, and hands-on activities, children build confidence, communication skills, and a love for learning in a warm, nurturing environment.
We nurture their growing independence, spark their natural curiosity through engaging activities, and gently guide them as they begin to build essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.

Early Year 2
Building on the foundations of Early Year 1, Early Year 2 at Great Maple School is a dynamic and enriching year where young learners continue to flourish.
We foster their growing confidence and independence, encouraging them to explore their interests and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Through engaging and hands-on activities, we further develop their literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for a smooth and successful transition to Kindergarten.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten at Great Maple School is a time of remarkable growth, discovery, and readiness. Children become confident learners as they build stronger foundations in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking through purposeful play and engaging, age-appropriate challenges.
With a focus on independence, responsibility, and resilience, we help each child develop the skills and mindset they need for a smooth transition into primary school. It’s a year filled with creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning—where children feel empowered, capable, and ready to take on the world.

Our Approach to Early Learning
At Great Maple School, early learning is rooted in wonder, exploration, and joy. We believe children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and inspired. Our play-based, child-centered approach nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence—laying strong foundations for lifelong learning. Through meaningful experiences both indoors and outdoors, we support each child’s natural desire to explore, connect, and grow at their own pace.
