Children love being hands-on, so we let them get a little messy with some materials, glue and paints. We encourage them to draw, stick or paint what they see to inspire their creativity and then for us to see the world through their eyes. Look what they have created collaboratively to depict the autumn season!

Cooking is a valuable life skill that goes beyond the kitchen. At Great Maple School, our cooking lab empowers students with the knowledge and techniques to prepare delicious and nutritious meals. By learning essential cooking skills, our students gain independence, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for food.

GMS kitchen is a learning lab for children that helps involve all of their senses. While tossing, pouring, smelling, mixing, feeling and tasting foods they have fun and learn without being aware of it. They learn lifetime skills through practicing basic math skills such as counting, weighing, measuring, tracking time; they also gain social skills by working together, communicating in the kitchen lab and end up building positive memories.

At GMS, we embrace diversity and celebrate different cultures. This year, we had a fantastic time celebrating Chinese New Year with the China-Pak Cultural Educational Institute. The event fostered cross-cultural understanding and created lasting memories for our students.

Instruction in the absence of application is incomplete because it creates an artificial learning environment. At Great Maple, we make use of teaching approaches and modern technology that allow children to involve themselves in their own learning processes. They are given opportunities to construct, question, transfer, critique and apply their new learning. This helps improve their understanding when they actively construct meaning and try to make sense of the learning material.
